Editio Janáček

Established by the Leoš Janáčk Foundation in 2001 to focus mainly on publishing and editorial work in the musical and literary legacy of Leoš Janček.

As an association for the public benefit, Editio Janáček works mainly on a noncommercial basis; published titles should find an audience mainly among domestic and international users.

The advisory body for the Editio Janáček is the editorial board, composed of distinguished musicologists, especially of domestic provenience.

Mgr. Kateřina Hnátová has been named as executive editor and publisher since january 2007. For the critical form of the resulting musical score, we work from the Editors' Principles and Directives issued in a 1979 book by Jarmil Burghauser and Milan Šolc. The compilation of critical editions of Janáček's work was begun in the late 1970's by then state-owned publisher Supraphon in cooperation with Bärenreiter, GmbH.

The practical editions are identical in notography with the critical issues, but are free of Publishers' notes and Annotations.
